Welcome to the James Jones Legacy Foundation

It is my pleasure to share with you our vision for the children of South Florida. My wife Destiny and I founded the James Jones Legacy Foundation because we believe that every child deserves a chance to succeed. Our foundation is committed to welcoming every child who enters our programs with respect – and the affirmation that they are special in this world and possess the ability to make a difference in the lives of others, as well as their own. By building character and fostering confidence, aspirations and most importantly hope, we lay the foundation for a better future.

Having the opportunity to play basketball and work in the NBA has provided me the privilege of working with an extraordinary group of athletes and individuals. However, as a young man growing up in the inner city, my life was very different than it is now. Peer pressure, bad choices and a lack of role models made positive juvenile development challenging. I was different; I chose to play basketball and understood early on that an advanced education was my gateway to a better future.

Over the years, I have encountered many young people in our community and have seen so many great kids that just needed a nudge in the right direction. Oftentimes, children at risk are desperately seeking someone to help guide them and encourage them to believe in themselves. We believe that providing kids with an opportunity to experience a college setting as part of our programming has the potential to transform their lives. Our program offers campus tours, leadership training, self-expression workshops, entrepreneurship and team building, all the while creating lifelong relationships among peers and mentors.

The James Jones Legacy Foundation is building partnerships with like-minded community stakeholders to make a genuine difference in the lives of children who are at risk of falling into the perils of today’s society.
